Active and in shape loves being outdoors. Hiking, boating, fishing, horses, pedal bikes and motorcycles (H-Drider) Harleys of course.
Single male who would love to find an active woman who could compliment me and her. A partner to just enjoy outside activities and anything else.
I was introduced to backpacking years ago and instantly fell in love with it. I like the idea of having everything on your back and when you stop for the night its up to you.

I started packing in '98, cutting my teeth on a section of the AT. Since then I've logged miles at Big Bend, Yellowstone, Maroon Bells/Snowmass wilderness and the White mountains.  Enjoy cycling, climbing and kayaking.

I'm 65, retired, and have been backpacking since 1970 when my wife and I did a 5 day circuit along the Belly River in Glacier National Park. Got back into backpacking again in 1987 and have done trips in PA, WV, Canadian Rockies and Alaska. In 2006 I thru-hiked the Appalachian Trail and in 2008 the PCT. From April 27 to July 19, 2010 I "embraced the brutality" of the CDT for over 1230 miles. I'll go back to finish out next summer. Summers I volunteer on ATC trail crews and work with the Wampum, PA chapter building the North Country Trail. Looking forward to hooking up on some trips to keep active.

Hanta Yo
I have always had a yearning to be outdoors and a zest for adventure. Childhood romps in rural woods and fields yielded to more challenging pursuits that combined work and play: working in Jackson Hole WY and directing outdoor education programs at Hiram House for 5 yeas.

Over the years, I have, with my (recently deceased) husband, backpacked/ice and rock climbed/canoed/dog mushed/parachute jumped/igloo dwelled/and otherwise been on the loose in 49 states and 10 countries. I have three young adult children (21, 22, 25) who are Hawaii bound with me this December, thus completing our 50 state National Park backpacking saga.

Professionally, I direct the Institute for Creative Leadership, a nonprofit organization that facilitates leadership, team development and diversity training that uses an adventure based approach to learning.

Most recent adventure? This weekend I dodged lightning bolts and deciphered tornado alarm sirens as a group of friends paddled 3 days, two nights down the Allegheny River in PA. Most dreamed about adventure? Hiking in remote villages in and around the Mt. Everest region.

BTW, my trailname, Hanta Yo, is the name of my newly restored 100 year old wood canvas canoe - a real beauty - and in Native American tongue means "clear the way".

I used to be fairly active in the past as far as hiking and camping but that was 15-20 years ago. I have been telling my wife that it is time to reconnect with the outdoors. I plan on doing just that and am hoping that this club will be a valuable resource of knowledge and information for my wife and I.

Hey You
Hi everyone.  Like anyone else who would join this club, I enjoy the outdoors very much and everything that goes with it.  I love camping, hiking and biking, kyaking, riding my motorcycle and doing adventure races.  Backpacking is a new experience for me.  On most weekends you can find me in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park.  I did GOBA (The Great Ohio Bike Adventure-300 mile bike ride) in 1999 with my son.  That was one of the coolest things I've ever done. When I'm not outdoors I'm usually painting something.  I do decorative wall painting aka Faux Finishing as a hobby. I'm really looking forward to meeting some like-minded folks and logging some miles.  See ya soon, Michelle

Hello,

I have been an outdoor nut for years, although I have slowed down in the past 6-years due to career advancement and such, I am an avid mountain biker, rock climber, snow skier, kayaker and backpacker looking to get back into the groove.  My wife and I moved to Madison, Ohio 6-years ago and we have been focused on our careers, thus, we have not met very many people in the area and/or have associated with those who share some of the same outdoor interest. Well, 2008 is upon us and we decided this is the year to breakout of the mold.

Hope to be able to get active in the group soon and meet others with our same passion for outdoor activities and fun.

Thanks
Tom

Hello.  My name is Eric and I live in North Canton.  I started backpacking about 10 years ago with my brother when we attempted 7 days in Monongahela NP without a clue.  Our trip lasted 2 days, ending in an emergency room visit.   This mishap has become the first of many good stories I have to tell about backpacking.  Most of my backpacking trips have been in the smokey mountains.  I also enjoy Monongahela, and other WVa locations.  I love talking about trips so drop me an email!

Five years ago I used all my vacation time to hike the last 300 miles of the AT.  I had such a good time that I quit my job the next year and thru-hiked the entire AT.  Since then I have thru-hiked the PCT, CT, and the entire AT again.  I have always loved to backpack and enjoy going to Allegheny National Forest for weekends or to the wilderness areas of WV for long weekends.  I also like to go for long hikes in the Cuyahoga Valley and tell everyone about this treasure in our backyard.  I'm always looking for new trails to hike and new places to go backpacking.

I love the outdoors!  In the summer, I love to hike anywhere I can find woods, hills or mountains with my 2 sons who are 17 and 21.  I am really only a day-hiker at this point in Ohio and Western PA.  Have done a little hiking in Arizona when I was younger.  I would eventually like to try an overnighter next summer when I buy more gear.  In the Winter, I love to downhill ski with my sons and wife as well.  I have not hiked much in the winter but plan on doing a little this year on nicer days.

I have been a Christian for about 25 years and am very involved in church music.  I have played the piano for 40 years.  So, to me, hiking is a chance to get out and enjoy God's country!

I also am a manager at NASA working for a contractor.

40-something, married, 2 kids, occasional basic backpacker, like nature and simplicity, like to get out maybe once a year on the trails.

My style is a little unorthodox - hike slowly but all day, take lots of breaks, keep thing simple.....

Like to hear about others' experiences on the trails.

Started a thruhike at Springer in March 2004 and completed 1500 miles. Since then have filled in 250 more miles. Still have from Killington to Monson to finish. Have been missing trail life a lot. Have a journal on trailjournals.

I moved up here from Charlette, NC three years ago.  I have spent the last several building a new house and now I am ready to get on with other things.

I have been an active backpacker most of my life.  I have done a little rock climbing in my younger years but would just live stay on the ground now.  I have hiked a great deal of the trails in NC, SC, TN and GA.  I have started looking at camping and hiking in Ohio.

I work as a manufacturing engineer and spend many hours working.  It is a stress reliever to get out on the weekend and backpack.

I'm in my 50's and married.  My son Alex is 12 and also likes to pack, so we're interested in family trips.

I've hiked in PA, southern Ohio, southwestern Colorado (Maroon Bells, San Juans), Montana (Glacier), California (Yosemite), Wyoming (Wind River Range) and the Canadian Rockies (my favorite so far).  Alex has done Zaleski and Tracy Ridge with me.  am interested in hiking or backpacking anywhere in Ohio, PA, WV, VA, or out west -- especially out west!  I'm a very laid back type-B who prefers to hike rather slowly, meet and talk with people, putz around camp, and "smell the roses".  However, this doesn't mean I don't mind doing challenging trips at elevation!

Hope to see you on the trail!
