I love outdoor activities, but I have never backpacked before. I am hoping to find some trips that are beginner suitable and jump in.

I enjoy backpacking and hiking whenever I can. My favorite place is MNF in WV, about an hour from where I grew up. I will be relocating to Morgantown WV soon, but would like to make a few trips with the group like the North Fork Mountain trip we did Oct of this year. See you on the trail.

I get out when I can, I love all of nature. I have the care of my aging mother, plus a very intriguing dog and 2 cats, so respite means get out the pack and go!
I volunteer for the Metroparks and the NWF, and am an LNTer and a veggie - taking care of our earth is as important as enjoying her wild places.
Oh, and after all these years, I'm still a gawker...

My dad (Beartooth) goes on a lot of trips and I would like to attend some beginner hikes with him.

I'm 27, work in a domestic violence shelter, am a native of the highland square neighborhood of Akron, and love the outdoor world. I run, bike, mountain bike, hike, rock climb and am relatively new to backpacking. Nature is therapy for me, and way cheaper than paying someone in private practice. Spending time outdoors is how I rejuvenate myself.

I frequently do day hikes, but have never done backpacking. I have always wanted to try it, and this winter - little by little I plan on buying all the supplies I need for backpacking so I can start up in spring with my husband and son. I need any advice anyone can possibly think of!!!!! I know nothing!!!!! I love adventure - I have been skydiving, skiing, whitewater rafting, kayaking, recently did my first triathlon, and bungee jumping....I will basically try anything. I like to fish and love to run. My list of "want tos" include backpacking, doing a full marathon (only have done a 1/2 marathon so far) rock climbing, learning to fly. I am married and have one child, (9 years old) who is currently my hiking buddy! I am trying to convince my hubby to take on backpacking as well.

Hello! I am 40-something, living in Cleveland since 1999 (originally from the east coast). i am excited to get back into backpacking -- it's probably been about 10 years, since my hubby doesn't enjoy it and I haven't wanted to go alone. so i'm really glad i found this group! am a philosophy professor at a local college, enjoy my 2 dogs, gardening, arts, the symphony, environmental activities. hope to come to a meeting before the june 06 trip!

I love the outdoors, and my husband, Steve, (aka none) and I enjoy hiking and backpacking year round. We backpack mainly in Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Virginia. We try to get out west, or wherever, at least once a year for a week long trip away from the crowds. My goal is to backpack in the more remote areas in Alaska as soon as time permits.

I'm a 20 something Female. I've loved backpacking since my first trip w/ my highschool in 7th grade to Minster Creek. Family vacations since I was a todler were often camping trips instead of hotels. I want to do more backpacking but have not found many friends interested in joining me. I hope to eventually return to Belize and Backpack Victoria's Peak in the Cockscomb Wilderness Basin Reserve. I loved Belize and Cockscomb in particular but did not get the chance to Backpack while I was there. My friend Pistol returned and hiked Victoria's Peak he said it was Amazing.

I've been slowly checking off some of the world's great treks with extended expeditions to the Himalayas, Andes, Sierras, Olympics and Cascades. Particularly love the High Sierras and have completed multiple extended expeditions and mountaineering trips to Mount Whitney, the Palisades and Evolution Valley. A truly wonderful experience in hiking the Eagle Cap Wilderness in Eastern Oregon. Alpine Mountaineering trips with the American Alpine institute. Summits of Whitney, Shuksan, Mount Washington and Katadyn.

Love Dogs, kayaking, photography, cycling and yoga. Maintaining high fitness levels. YMCA member.

Advanced scuba diver with expeditions to Galapagos, Cocos Island, Palau and the Great Barrier Reef.

B.S in Natural Resource Conservation from Kent State University 1981, Environmental Specialist 3 for the Ohio Department of Natural Resources.

I have recently just moved back to Ohio and am looking for a group of people to go backpacking with that also love the outdoors. I am probably moving to Columbus in the near future and am looking for a science techer position for next fall. I am 24 and always up for a good time or weekend excursion.

I have no backpacking experience but love to hike. I'm hoping to gain experience from seasoned backpackers. I'm looking forward to joining the club and learning the sport as well as challenging myself. I'm open to any suggestions to get started from scratch. I have no gear and don't know how or where to get started. But I want to be out in nature and I'm tired of being cooped in an office and my home.

LOVE outdoor activities...skiing, cycling, snowboarding, paddling, camping...backpacking is my FAVE.
Especially because Trail Monkey latches on for the ride *grin*

I am very active with the Fagowees Ski Club, and some of our members overlap with NEOH.

backpacking is the right thing to do if you are not backpacking on the trail you are not hiking...................laurel highlands put in your trust and quehanna trail is a must !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello, my name is Todd, I love the outdoors and really enjoy camping, backpacking, and snow. I have never skied or snowboarded but I soon will try.

I thruhiked the Appalachian Trail in 2005, all 2165 miles of the trail are wonderful and I hope that I can hike it again someday.

I work in Cleveland as a Salesman and still live in Lancaster ohio but reside in cleveland a lot of weekends and am just looking for someone to go backpacking with or just hike with.

Living the Dream

I have been backpacking since I was about 10 and have spent most of the last 28 years of my life enjoying the outdoors. I spend alot of time on the road as a retail constuction manager, so me and my choclate lab (Cocco) get to do alot of backpacking and other high adventure sports all over the country. I have backpacked all over a good part of the country. There is nothing better to me than to be in the great outdoors. Being single means doing most of this by myself but every now and then my younger brother joins me, but it dosnt stop me.

Hi, I love the outdoors and being out in nature. I am an avid day hiker and lead many hikes with the Northeast Ohio Hiking Club. I love backpacking too but do not go out as much as I would like. I am looking to get back out on some short trips and some longer trips. My favorite backpacking trip thus far was a week long trip that a friend and I took to Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore.

I am a naturopathic doctor who moved here from Oregon three months ago to work at a clinic in Cleveland Heights. I love to hike and backpack. I haven't backpacked for several years due to the demanding schedule of graduate school.

I found out about your club through The Backpacking Shop. I am excited to explore the backwoods of this part of the US.

I did quite a bit of backpacking a few years ago, living outdoors for weeks at a time, and am looking forward to getting back into it without having to buy plane tickets to go meet my old comrades. And my gear looks very sad sitting in it's boxes in the closet. Also looking for people interested in day outings in extreme NE Ohio (Lake, Geauga, Ashtabula)

I have been backpacking for quite a while. I mostly have been backpacking in New Mexico and Texas. Now I live in Ohio and would like to check out the backpacking trips there are to offer here!

Family vacations were always hiking and camping growing up, and I still can't get enough of it. I hike in the Metroparks as much as possible, but can't wait to be out on more backpacking trips.

I am new to hiking-backpacking in 2006

I had my 1st (civilian) backpacking in aug 06 at Morrison's and experienced a nice blister for my first time seeing Kinzua Pa. I live in Leroy Twp. which is between Painesville Ohio and Chardon Ohio.

I often day hike in Leroy Twp at the Girdled road reservation in Leroy Twp. which is part of the Lake Metro parks. It is part of the Buckeye Trail as well and you can get in a good eight miles with some big "hills".

I thru-hiked the Appalachian Trail in 1999 after retiring early from my workplace. I hiked from Springer Mountain, GA to Damascus, VA in 2001 just to re-live the adventure. I try to hike some of the AT every year and lately I have been hiking sections of it with one of my sons.

I am 60+ years old, but in pretty good condition and just love to backpack. I also am very much involved and coach girls fastpitch softball during the spring and summer.

My passion in life is backpacking and softball coaching and even though I don't consider myself very smart in most things, I feel that I can hold my own in both of these areas. I am always searching for better ways of doing things in both areas to add to what I have learned from experience and other people. That is why I am have joined this forum, as well as many other backpacking discussions and softball forums.

I do not usually write much unless I am asked personally, since I have found that many times people disagree and just want to argue about something. I do not get on here to argue about anything so I do not often respond to open questions, even if I know I am correct or it worked for me.

Ok, enough about me. I want to read what you guys are talking about and maybe I can learn something new.

Hello everyone, I just moved to the Cleveland area in June and I am looking forward to getting outdoors more. I have always been an outdoors kinda guy...I love to fish and hike and camp etc., but I have yet to cross over into the outdoor class that I have always hoped that I would. I am in the no excuses phase of that progression towards that goal. I heard of your website from one of the guys at the Appalacian Outfitters(great store btw), and it seemed like a nice place to start "networking" and I am looking forward to the experience.

I am a wife and a mother of one teenage boy. I love to work out, and do so regularly. I also love to read and write reviews for books online. I have been horseback riding in the Teton Mountains and would go again in a heartbeat, and white-water rafting in West Virginia, which was a blast! I really want to try backpacking, and doing so with an experienced backpacker is a must. I really enjoy hiking, and going for several days in very remote areas is something I have always wanted to do.

I live in WV about an hour from several great backpacking spots. I am looking for backpacking partners/groups.

Had not been hiking in years, then hiked Appalacian Trail (Springer to GA_NC border and later hiked Delaware Water Gap. Loved it all. Need to work less and enjoy life more.

I am a fun loving person and enjoy all kinds of outdoor activities. Looking for local clubs and people who want to enjoy backpacking trips in the area ( I live in northern MD). Biggest passions now are backpacking ( don't do enough) self-contained and road biking, and skiing.

I love the great outdoors and want to commit more of my time to an organization with outdoor-type activities. I enjoy fishing, hunting, hiking, mountain climbing, survival - am not especially good at any of them but would like to learn.

I spent six years in the military serving a year in Iraq and helping out with Hurricane Katrina. I really enjoy the outdoors and want to get back into backpacking/hiking. So, this year I sold my xbox and used it to purchase backpacking gear. My wife and I will be doing this for the first time togethor and I hope she will really like it.

I've always done lots of camping growing up, but got into backpacking about two years ago. I did the West Coast Trail on Vancouver Island last year and just completed a 13 day mountaineering course in the washington cascades. I thought it couldn't get better than the west coast trail, but the cascades are pretty amazing!
