I am brand new to backpacking and have only been on a couple trips in the past couple years because it's hard to get away from school/work. After my first trip in WV I fell in love with backpacking/hiking and I hike the trails in the CVNP on a daily basis throughout the spring/summer/fall.

I've been backpacking off n on sense the mid 90's. mostly on the weekends. In Pa,Mich,W.Va& once to Wy.

Was an in active member of your group about 6? yrs ago. A friend has become active active with you has brought my attention back around

Middle of Feb. getting cabin fever and dreaming of hiking in a GREEN place soon. Am new to backpacking.

I have done hiking trips with Bob Collins and his group in the past. I also have hiked with my husband on several occassions. Bob referred me to this club.

I am always looking for something new & exciting to do...I am very interested in learning more about & getting involved in backpacking :-)

Live in Cleveland and go backpacking in different states every year with a group of my friends.

I live in southern ohio right next to shawnee forest I have backpacked since about age 12. Also love canoeing, rapelling, mountain biking, road cycling,geocaching, discgolf just about anything in the outdoors.

I have camped in 34 states and Ontario. I am a novice backpacker, sometimes looking for others to go backpacking with. I have been doing mostly solo backpacking as I find it more peaceful, and I can go at a moment's notice when the weather is good. I am a rather quiet camper, there to enjoy the peace, beauty, and creatures. I keep a good pace as exercise is part of the motivation for backpacking. I am not a drinker and it bothers me to hear/see people going into the wilderness to make noise, get drunk, and disturb the peace. I also enjoy biking, rollerblading, hiking, cross-country skiing, photography, recording nature sounds, canoeing, and more. My husband and I are going to Montana to the Glacier National Park in a few weeks and we are going backpacking - first time for me and he has gone several other times. We have done much dayhiking together over the years, and we are finally ready to move to the next step and invest in all the gear we'll need to begin our new adventures of backpacking. I just found this club while browsing through Appalachian Adventures' website and am looking forward to learning from more experienced hikers.

My girlfriend, also a club member, introduced me to backpacking about a year ago. I have only been on just a few trips.

My name is Chris. I love hiking outdoors--especially in the woods and the mountains. I'm 55; my wife and I live near Canton, OH, and our two daughters are married now. No grandkids yet, so I want to take more time backpacking. I used to run and cycle long distances, but I much more enjoy walking now. I was in electrical engineering for a number of years. Being active for many years in our church, I recently shifted careers to serving two congregations. Life is good--so live, love, and share the joy! I look forward to meeting other backpackers.

I have been searching for a group that enjoy the outdoors and it appears I may have found such a group.

I enjoy natural areas and camp in survival / semi survival types of environments.

Would like to try some winter camping
Into light weight camping, have made some of gear my wife Jan & I use
Drove to Alaska & back last summer
Have hiked parts of PCT SHT
I also enjoy XC skiing

Absolutely NEW to backpacking (read: haven't even gone on an excursion yet), but my girlfriend has told me enough about it that I'm very interested. I think it would be very beneficial to me to take a weekend away from the keyboard and get out into the wilderness. I'm very interested in nature photography.

I am 27, born and raised in NEO. I started in boy scouts when I was 13. Since the start i have camped and backpacked in some beautiful areas such as, Oil City, Minister Creek, and my favorite, Cimmeron NM at Philmont Scout Ranch. It is a 10 day backcountry no trace camp for scouting groups. each time we hiked 40-65 pound packs and 75-100 miles. The best camping experience I have had to date. My wife and I were fortunate enough to hike in the Swiss Alps while on vacation. very cool. Lately have not been out, with a new baby, it puts a new spin on life. will definately be back out as soon as we can.

After years of wanting to get outdoors, I finally wised up, gave up some useless stuff, and started hiking in '02, at age 44. I've done lots of dayhiking in all conditions, but various conflicts have limited me to 5 backpacking trips so far (North Manitou Island, Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, Waterloo SRA, Pigeon River, and Pinckney SRA). I live in southeastern Michigan and am a member of SOLAR, an excellent instruction-oriented club here, but in order to expand trip opportunities, I try to connect with other clubs in the tri-state area.

Hi, my name is nick,im 20 and im a college student at Tri-C (try for c's) and i have been camping since i was three, and have been doing it monthly since then. I have been backpacking for three years, and looking to do alot more. My current goal is to do a threw hike of the Pa section of the north country trail, and when i get more time i want to do a threw hike of the entire north country trail which is a big goal. I havent climbed since i left the boy scouts (4 years), and i am starting to go a little bit. Planning on taking some refresher courses at Kendel Cliffs. Hopfully i will make some friends, and find alot of people who love doing what this website is all about, backpacking, but also people who enjoy, snowboarding,fishing,kayaking,off roading,climbing, and anything else that has to deal with the outdoors. Hopfully one day, i will start my own outfitting company, that will cater to every outdoor activity, and also to everyones price range, because a guided trip is not only for people with money, but for people who have the dream to accomplish somthing big. .........AT 2007 ??

I always liked to camp thanks to my father. When i joined cub scouts and moved up to boy scouts and went on a few high adventure trips i loved them both.
I now want to become more active of a hiker/backpacker.

I have backpacked all over the US, and in the amazon, and new zealand. Looking to explore much more though.

Recent trips include Wildcat Hollow near Athens in February (cold!), and 4 nights in Denali's backcountry+2 nights kayaking in Prince William sound. Close to my best trip ever. Saw 5 grizzlies (one way too close!).

backpacking is completely new to me. i have gone hiking but never stayed overnight in the woods. looking forward to a new adventure. need to learn the ins and outs of what to buy and how to pack. would welcome any suggestions, dont want to reinvent the wheel. thanks, look forward to making new friends!

I am married and a mother of 3 girls ages 12 10 and 8. I am also a full time nurse in an ICU unit and love my job. I grew up camping and started hiking with my mom about 20 years ago. We have hiked many times in New Hampshire including the Rigde trail and Mt. Washington. Always day hiked and would now like to do some backpacking.
My mom unfortunately has started to have knee and vascular issues and cannot hike as before. Hopefully these will be resolved and we can continue to hike. She has backpacked years ago and that is where my interest has come from. I have hiked a small piece of the AT but really dream of section hiking the entire trail someday.
I guess now I am looking to find info, hiking groups and possible small back packing trips I could possibly go on. I just love camping and hiking and want to do more of it.

Not sure whate to write, I am 23 looking to be more independent while I enjoy weeekend camping trips, eager to learn, and excited to spend the summer in the warm sunny outdoors!!!

I am a beginner backpacker and also enjoy training for triathlons, woodworking, reading, and working on cars.

I am an engineer who would like to get back outside for exercise and fun. Have gear, but really need to condition myself. Otherwise, enjoy reading, camping, astronomy, and amateur radio.

I am a 43 year old nature lover, I enjoy sea kayaking flyfishing and mountain biking. I have in the past few years started to backpack. most of my backpacking experiences have been in the Alleghany National forest . In 2006 I spent a week in the Ansel Adams wilderness which is just outside of Yosemite. It was incredible.
