Use to backpack, have always camped, hiked and bike toured. Kids are finally at an age where I am not tied to the house so we do a lot of exploring. Done a lot of bicycling the past couple of years along with some hiking while shedding the pounds of being house-bound. Lots of camping and now we are going to explore backpacking some of those same areas.

I'll soon be 50 years old. I love the outdoors, camping, fishing, hiking, canoeing, etc. I've decided I would like to try backpacking once again after 30 years since my last trip. I saw your site on a Google search..I may never go backpacking with any of the members but it appears your members are a friendly bunch and might offer a old man some tips for getting back into backpacking.

I have been a backpacker since 1970 and have been up on Roaring Plains since then, including the winters of 1976-7! Always looking for fun, cool, happy people to get out with!

So, I joined this club a few years ago and have never been on a trip. I guess I'm not sure what the levels of difficulty really mean. I've done some backpacking on the AT and loved it! Looking forward to finding my comfort level and getting back to it.

I hike a couple one or two week walks a year, Ohio and Pa mainly WV once, nor great adventure trips. I guess I can claim 50+ years experience but with a major gap in the middle. Started in Scouts (Eagle Scout) gap from collage to about ten years ago then see above.
Was supposed to be 1/3 thru a 3 week walk on the Buckeye today. Left leg said go home. :-) Leaving Sunday to at least do some of it and join a BTA work party.
I have helped with BP classes for MetroParks and enjoy taking friends and family on short try it type hikes.

I love backpacking and especially the Appalachian Trail. From 2007 to 2009, I completed from Springer Mtn, GA to northern New York. I can't wait to finish the last 780 miles in the next couple of years.

I am looking to get involved in outdoor activities. I work out 2-3 days a week at the gym. I am in average shape. I would like to start hiking but would like to meet people who do the same. I am single and need some encouragement and need to start from scatch. I enjoy walking through the woods but prefer not to do it alone.I work day shift and have 1 Fri/Sat and one Sat/Sun a month but am able to get time off with notice.

I am new to backpacking. Walked 54 miles in 1 day - 12.5 hours. Last 5 years I won 1st place in men's division, 3.4 mile speed walk race. Originally from Croatia, Europe. Lived in England, Sweden and Germany. Past 29 years reside here in US. Plan mountain hiking in Croatia summer 2010. Do not have all the equipment yet. But getting there.
Looking forward to many backpacking trips with NOBC.

I have been a backpacker since 1984. I used to volunteer with the CVNP and have been on many trips around OH, PA, NY, WV, KY, and up into Canada. I am just getting back on the trail after many years of walking on pavement. I have a lot of dust on my outdated gear.....

I am a recent college graduate and have always loved the outdoors and being there within. I have recently started to get interested in backpacking and have made it my goal to one day hike the Appalachian Trail in sections.

I am an Eagle Scout and an active Scouter in the Greater Western Reserve Council (Lake, Geauga, Ashtabula, Trumbull, Mahoning and Portage counties). I backpack regularly with our Scout troop and with non-Scouters alike. I just returned from my second trek at the Philmont Scout Ranch in Cimarron, NM (two weeks in the Sangre de Cristo range of the Rocky Mountains). I have instructed Leave No Trace principles for Scouting units in Northeast Ohio.

I'm a Metalsmith/Jeweler/Author who loves the outdoors. I love backpacking. Can usually only get out for local proximity hikes in ANF though. Would like to explore some other areas. Have hiked in Arizona, would like to get out west for some longer hikes too. Very familiar with Minister Creek, Tracy Ridge and the Cherry Grove areas of ther ANF. Enjoy Going with my wife and other friends when we have the time.

I am an old school backpacker and survivalist who just recently fell into lightweight backpacking. This year I've achieved a pack weight of only 13lbs for a weekend trip. I am a avid outdoorsman, lover of all things nature. see you on the trail! Oh and for all you leave not trace fanatics, i'm all for keeping the environment clean. But if i have to poop in the woods, it's staying in the woods! My gear cost way too much to haul shit around in it! :)

I love being outside, no matter what the weather. I enjoy camping & hiking, but would like to take it to a new level. I have no backpacking experience, but am ready for a new adventure. I stumbled across this web site and thought it would be a great place to start. Can't wait to learn new things and meet new people.

I have been backpacking for close to 20 years. I enjoy spending a day to a week in the wilderness. Also, I enjoy rock and ice clmibing, mountaineering, sea and river kayaking and the occassional canoe trip. The summer will see me doing a lot of road biking
